Rooster Refund Policy
"Nature seems to enjoy a good laugh. I once had a young cockerel named Bleu hanging out with the gals one morning while they lay. While I was waiting around for one of them to finish, to my suprise, my little "roo" laid down next to them and laid a little pullet egg. Go figure! She was renamed "Manly," and besides being the boss of the flock, she matured into an affectionate lap chicken."

ROOSTER REFUND FOR BACKYARD CHICKENS

Want to dive into urban chicken keeping but can't have roosters? This is for you!

Definitions:

 

  • A "Sex-Link" is a day-old chick that is 99.9% sexable at birth by down color, made possible by the genetics of the parents.

  • "Sexed Pullet" are chicks (under 6 weeks old) determined to be female. No manner of "wing" or "vent" sexing is foolproof, but these chicks are eligible for the refund.

  • "Started Pullet" is a fledged, sexed female that is 6-16 weeks old (up to 20 weeks old for purebred Orpingtons). 

  • "Straight Run" are day-old chicks that are not sexed. They are not eligible for refund.

TERMS OF THIS POLICY:

  1. ​Sex-Link, and Sexed Pullets are female, or your money back!

  2. Started Pullets are eligible until they reach 16 weeks of age.

  3. STRAIGHT RUN Surrender Option. NO refunds or exchanges will be issued for returned rooster chicks purchased from us as "straight run." However, we want you to enjoy raising backyard chickens, and return options might be available to you if your city does not allow rooster ownership. This option is not available for buyers that are a part of commercial organizations, hatcheries, farms, are breeder hobbyists, or from residences were roosters are allowed by city ordinance. Do your research and obey local laws.

  4. We can refuse the physical return of poultry for any reason at our sole discretion. We will not except the return of ill, injured, or deceased poultry under any circumstances, or if we deem the return to be a health risk for ourselves or our flock.

  5. Refund eligibility is dependent upon:

  6. Our receiving of unaltered photographic proof of male traits such as red comb, waddles, or crowing behavior;

  7.  The required surrender of unwanted cockerel BY APPOINTMENT ONLY. We will take this opportunity to address your concerns, arrange for an exchange for an similar aged pullet (if one is available) or refund you the cost of your chick via business check.

  8. In the case that you have chosen to euthanize your eligible cockerel, photographic evidence of the carcass is acceptable for the purpose of our authorizing a refund. (Be humane if you choose this option.)

  9. Chicks that were delivered to you via mail are not returnable or exchangeable, but the terms of eligibility for refund apply as stated.

  10. We aim to create an environment of good customer service and satisfaction, however all refunds and returns are applicable and revokable at our sole discretion if we suspect fraud or any other unlawful use of our policies by any party, at any time.
